James Rodriguez Makes a Bold Move to Liga MX Giants

Introduction: James Rodríguez, the Colombian winger, has officially joined Mexican football giants León, an eight-time Liga MX champion. The 33-year-old made the move after terminating his contract with Spanish side Rayo Vallecano, where he played only seven matches in the 2024/25 season.

León’s New Signing: On January 6, León finalized the transfer of Rodríguez, paying €1 million for the experienced player. The signing is seen as a strategic move to bolster the team ahead of key tournaments, including the FIFA Club World Cup in June 2025.

Rodríguez’s Career Highlights: James Rodríguez began his professional journey with Envigado in Colombia before moving to Banfield in Argentina. Rodríguez also had spells at Bayern Munich, Everton, Al Rayyan, Olympiakos, and São Paulo.

National and International Success: For Colombia, Rodríguez scored 29 goals in 112 matches, playing a pivotal role in their quarter-final run at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and reaching the Copa América final in 2024.
